October 31st

I made a flipbook out of a tiny sketchpad. It was very hard to flip in front of the iMac camera. The compression is pretty severe, too. And...the end flipped poorly in this take.

I only had time to go figure drawing for one hour today.

October 5th

Friday, the 5th of October. Black china marker. Drew gestures from 1pm-4pm, 4:30pm-7:30pm, and still life from 8pm-10pm. So sick of drawing. Can't write complete sentences.

September 29th

I got a Pentel "color brush" (as Ford said, "any color you want as long as it's black") and I'm trying to figure out how to use it. So I took it swing dancing with me.

Warming up my brush before the dance.

Trying to get rhythm in my sketch.

I figured four pages was enough and went back to dancing terribly.

Couples dancing and spinning around to fast-tempo music has got to be the hardest thing to draw. I also did a bunch of traditional pen gestures, but I lost my other sketchbook!

September 28th

I didn't do as much sketching this past week; in short, I was too busy.

Friday life drawing.
I used up my 12"x18" pad in the middle of the sessions, so I did a lot of my drawing on a 18"x24", which does not fit in the scanner. Fine. Scanning isn't fun anyway.

I sketched these guys while I should have been doing homework.
These aren't observational or life drawings, but they're in one of my sketchbooks now and I think they're pretty neat.

September 21st

I attended some open model sessions today. From 1 pm to 7:30 pm. I took a break or two.

It's an amazing feeling to do a blind drawing and have it come out looking good.
